Highly specialized school for jumps

The “Kangaroo” project is an innovative initiative created by JUMP and ATL-Etica Impresa Sociale, dedicated to technical specialization in the disciplines of athletics jumps: triple, long, high and pole vault.

With Olympic and world champion Pedro Pablo Pichardo as a special testimonial, the project stems from the vision of Gianni Iapichino, CEO of JUMP and Fiamme Oro coach, who wanted to create a bridge between sporting excellence and new generations of athletes.

The project includes:

  • Technical, cultural and sports exchange between Cuban, Portuguese, Bulgarian and Italian athletics schools
  • International specialist courses led by world-class coaches
  • Growth opportunities for talented athletes who do not have access to highly specialized programs
  • Technical supervision from internationally renowned coaches, including Jorge Pichardo

Under Gianni Iapichino’s guidance, this partnership between JUMP and ATL-Etica Impresa Sociale aims to enhance the entire jumping sector, increasing interest and the level of participation in these spectacular disciplines.

“We are very proud to have contributed to the birth of this new partnership – states Gianni Iapichino – particularly because we believe we can create a project that enhances the entire jumping sector together with Pichardo’s team. Our goal is to establish an international reference point for the development of new talents.”

WHO I AM

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Gianni Iapichino embodies excellence in Italian athletics, first as an athlete and then as an international coach.

His athletic career is studded with significant successes: holder of the Italian record in the pole vault (5.70m and 5.80m in the square) between 1994 and 1995, he won the silver medal in the European Cup in 1991 in Frankfurt. His palmares includes three outdoor national titles (1990-1991-1992) and three indoor (1991-1994-1995) in the pole vault, as well as an Italian title in the indoor heptathlon in 1988.

His true vocation, however, emerges in the role of coach. From 1997 to 2005 he guided Fiona May to extraordinary goals, including world gold in Edmonton 2001, Olympic silver in Sydney 2000 and the Italian long jump record (7.11m). Since 2021 he has been coaching his daughter Larissa Iapichino, leading her to win gold medals at the U20/U23 European Championships in 2019 and 2023, silver medals at the European Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 2023 and 2024, and gold at the European Indoor Championships in 2025, as well as establishing the current Italian indoor record in the long jump with 6.97m, surpassing her mother Fiona May.

His expertise also extends to golf, where as a PGA member he taught in prestigious Tuscan clubs. Today, in addition to his coaching activity, he is CEO and founder of JUMP Srl, a company dedicated to sports management and event organization.
